Painted pinstripes + Easy Off = Too good to be true?
Painted pinstripes + Easy Off = Too good to be true?
Lucky me, my pinstripes came painted on. It appears that, other than painting my whole car, or wet sanding them off (eek), somebody from a Lexus enthusiast site used Easy Off to get his off. (the link is in the detailing forum) He claims it worked wonders and didn't damage his finish at all.

Has anybody used this method to get them off, or is this guy a paint shop guy bwahaaaing all the way to the bank re-painting all the dumb asses cars who took his advice?
Any advice would help, my pinstripes are killing me!

When i had my max they were painted on. As soon as i got the car i took them off. I wet sanded the pin stipes and other blemishes then compounded an waxed it with the wheel. Worked great. I think i used like 1400/1800 grit. If it is stock paint, the factory clear is THICK you would really have to work on the car to get trough it.

Speaking of washing and waxing, I washed and waxed my car this weekend. Do you think that the newly applied wax will prevent the Easy Off from getting at the stripes effectively? Shall I wait till the wax starts to wear off, or do you think that it will have no problem penetrating the wax?
Thanks
