Clear Enamel

I have been reading about painting my 95 taillights. To get the red clear look is all i do spray them with clear enamel. Is there any sanding or anything to be done? I do the outside right.

Is this the stuff to use http://www.testors.com/catalog_item.asp?itemNbr=1421

Any help or oither things i need to know is appreciated.

Thanks

Dont sand them. It will look horrible. Just make sure they are extra clean. Use some rubbing alcohol or something to prep them before paint. You can use clear enamel, but regular old clear coat will work too.

Since it shows that you've read/researched at least a little bit, I'm going to help you out.
This will not give you red/clears. How is spraying on a CLEAR paint going to change the color of the amber? You're either going to have to fork over a couple hundred dollars to get some, or diy using some altezzas. Read a little bit more into it. I'm sorry to ruin people's fun, but he is new.

lol i feel bad for newbies... i was one not too long ago. think -- if you spray CLEAR enamel over an AMBER colored lens, its not going to make the amber clear. us '95-'96 maxima owners got shafted for taillights

Do'oh! I didnt even soak in that he was trying to clear out stock lights. I guess sanding would be good then, cept you would have to sand all the way through the amber.

Before I get flamed for someone not picking up on it. Yes I was being sarcastic.

Yeah there was a thread about this a while back, puttin on clear enamel will give you clear clear tailights....like magic! Its just gonna make the amber glossier...being a fellow 95/96er, Id go with just tinting the reverse and turn signal lens...its the cheapest and easiest tail light mod for us.
