Squealing brakes

I got PBR/Axxis Metal Master brake pads and after having them on my car for about 400 miles, they DO NOT STOP squealing after i drive 5 miles. I know theyre just heating up after the first 5 miles but does anyone know how long the break in time is on these pads before theyre quiet? It sounds like the front end is falling off everytime i touch the brakes. The noise is coming from the front/driver side wheel. I changed that rotor but the noise is just as loud as it was before i changed it. Any advice?
thanks in adv.

You may be technically hearing a groan. That will never go away. The reason is it's the vibration coming from the piston and the backing material of the pad, so it has nothing to do with the pad wearing against the rotor.

Hopefully you forgot to put the shims back in, in which case it may improve your situation. If you did, I don't think you will be able to get rid of the groan. That's why I prefer OEM, seems like no matter what there is no squeal or groan.

probably improperly bedded rotors. Im not sure if you replaced the rotors the same time as you did your pads, but in my case, I did brembo blanks w/ axxis metalmasters. I got an annoying squeaking creaking, but then I had any contact points greased, and voila. All I get now is an intermittent groaning right as you come to a full stop, but that's because of improper break-in. the TSB for it recommends lubing any contact points and resurfacing the rotors and then properly breaking them in.

My Metal Masters were very prone to squeaking, couldn't stop it no matter what I did or replaced. Funny thing is they only squealed when my 17" rims were on the car, they never made any noise with the factory 16's on.

After 2 years of squealing, I got rid of the Metal Masters and went with a Ceramic pad from TRW. Everything is nice and quiet now, and my brakes initial bite is back!

you can try and put anti-squeel on the back of the pads. Look for it at any auto parts store. ($4)
