Let's just say that every fillup, we do about 16 gallons out of the 18.5 :

regular 87 [1.77 * 16gal. = $28.32]

premium 93 [1.99 * 16gal. = $31.84]

difference of $3.52

Say for some miracle prices were $1.60 [1.60 * 16gal. = $25.60] . Even with a ridiculous price of $1.60, if you just shed the extra $5, you can fill with premium. You spend more than $5 easily on food in one sitting. Just let this be something to make you fill up with the good stuff after you get everything fixed. I'm a college student and I work a crappy job, but I will skip lunch a couple days of the week, knowing that it will cover the 'extra' money paid on gas. Good luck. and USE PREMIUM.
I "wish" premium was only $1.99 @ each gallon. Here in S.Florida the Premium is atleast $2.20 and at most $2.27

thanks
Did you run this at a track or did you use a G-tech?

1. saying you ran a 16.2 tells us nothing at all. You would need to include your 60 foot time and mph. Shoot, you could take a 14 sec max and run a 16.2 with it. Does not mean the car is slow, means there is user error.

2. You may indeed have a bad knock sensor. No point in going to the track with a bad knock sensor, could rob you of .5 or so. Before you race your car you should at least make sure car is running right.

3. Reading this thread with all the newbies and bad information makes my head hurt and not want to ever read the 4th gen forum.

http://www.dynospotracing.com/octane.htm <--- that's just disturbing to know.

Dammit I "can" afford using premium gas but it's rediculous how the price per gallon has been lately. I remember when I was 15-16 years old premium gasoline was only $1.11 - $1.15 Spending only $13-$15 to fill up my tank from Empty to Full.. now it's $25 on 89 octane and about $33-$35 for Premium. $35 a week multiply by 4 (4 weeks) equals $140 filthy dollars... as to compare to $74.00 a month. Basically paying almost double.
Anyways enough of my rant, some people can afford it some can't, and the ones that can't shouldn't speed. Don't even bother adding/upgrading performance if you can't even afford the simple meal that the engine needs to run on.

man dude i think that knock sensor being bad + cheap gas equals almost 40 hp loss...therefore change knock sensor and using premium will def. get you mid 15's. btw...What kind of 60 foots did you run? and what were you trapping? the most important thing is changing your knock sensor first because when your knock sensor works then it will actually matter running premium fuel.

If one has a bad knock sensor it does not matter what octane gas is used.

another thing dude you have only been to the track a few times...i know for a fact that it takes practice to master a track and get really good times. My first time at the track i ran a 15.6 at 90.3------and about 5 months later i ran a 14.78 at 91.78 both stock times. that is almost a second just from knowing how to drive.

Wow.

I Find it interesting that your complaining that you Max is slow, but you know you have a CEL (which is never a good thing) and go to the track.

with 7 Codes especially the ones you have, my 1/4mile time would be the least of my concerns. Before you take your car to the track make sure everything is fully functional.

if you can't afford good gas and you can't afford to fix the 7 cel's than you can't afford to drag race your vehicle.

good point if you cant afford quality gas, how can you afford to go to the track to run 1/4miles?

Acually if you think about it, 16.2 with a bad knock sensor isn't all that terrible. My friend with the same mods ran around that time with a good KS...
60ft also plays a big role in the ET.

You still don't seem to understand...just because the CEL isn't on now, doesn't mean there isn't a problem. It's been posted in this thread but the codes may come back after you drive around some. Don't flog your car for a few hundred miles and see how she does. That means stay below 3K RPMs.
