Would using a light tester to check if my foglight sockets get power damage anything? One bulb doesn't work, so before buying a bulb, I was thinking about testing out the socket to see if power is flowing through it. I just want to make sure the light tester will not somehow screw up the vehicles electrical in some freak way.
I'm doing this, because lately my luck has been low, and I don't want to take any chances...
BTW, the light tester is that pen shaped tool with a fuse in the top portion, you attact a wire to it thats connected to metal for grounding, and you touch something that has a postive+ output to see if power is flowing, just in case the term light tester isn't popularly used here :-P.

No, it won't damage anything at all. Go ahead and do it. You either going to see the light on tester if there is electricity or you won't see the light. If no light/electricity at all; check the fuse. When putting new bulb make sure you put some electrical grease on bulb socket. ($1 at autoparts).
