Sorry to ask this question but I have looked in the FAQ's for the answer. And I will be the first to admit that I can look right at something and not see it. Just ask my wife.

Other than the turn signal being below the tail light on a 97, and the solid amber lens on the 96, what are any other differences between 96/97 tails?? I would be happy to have Red/Clears from a 97 if I could install them on my 96 without too much trouble.

 

Well, it is in the faq. The inner lenses from a 97 will not fit a 96.

 

I guess my question is. Can I put a 97 tail on a 96 body?

 

the outer one yes, but the inners won't match at all and will look really dumb and ugly. the only way you can realistically get the inners on there too is to get a 97-99 trunk lid, or pay someone big money to custom do it which would be a waste of $$.

 

wait for a while, someone is working on 95-96 red/clears as we speak

I have the red/clears from my 96 that I totaled in January.. I am going to check out a 97 tomorrow and if I buy it, will my tail lights fit the 97? Maybe just the outer ones? I'll find out soon enough I guess, but is there some kind of mod that I can use to adapt them?

 

96 tails wont fit on a 97 unless you put a 96 trunk on the 97 also. or you could sell me your red clears from your 96...
