I hate the steering wheel very much. i have hoping i can get lucky and find a nice 97-99 steering wheel.

thanks to everyone who showed interest. its going to be snowy and cold the next couple of days so i wouldn't be able to clean it and wash it as much as i would love to. i am heavily debating what to do. I would love to install a nice used engine and drive the car but not sure if it is a sound investment to do so. based on quotes i have recieved i should run about $1200. Then i think about parting it out and the idea saddens me because it seems to be such a rare car and so many wonderful options....Auto dimming rear view mirror, dual power front heated seats, adjustable headrest, power gas door release, ABS, and pretty cool tranny.
Another deterant against fixing the I30 is even though the car is a 3 years older than my maxima and has 20k miles more. the car insurance is still more expensive. i am making a list of everyone who has PMed me and posted in the for sale forum. depending on how i feel after i clean the car that will decide weather i keep it or not. my only hope is i can recover how much i paid for the car parting it out.

Me and 1992maxman were looking at it yesterday and we think it may just need a new starter and that it has a really bad oil leak. when i jump it and try to turn it over it sounds like it wants to but just don't have the juice because the battery is so dead.

Second... If I had the money, time and intuition to do a 5 speed swap.. this is exactly the car I'd pick!

Ashame you cant keep it as a project car. . . is that $2800/yr full coverage? If so, you dont need anything more than liability for the I30, its an older car with 140,000 miles.

But then lets say i do have a motor installed. that is roughly $1200. I would have to maintain and service the car to.
KS,plugs,02 sensors, not sure about the coil packs. if any of theses things were to go bad.
The most responsible thing to do is part it out. Kinda feels like a shame to do it. since there were so very few of these cars made and even fewer left but i don't wanna get sucked into a money pit.

Eh...either way, you should make out on the deal. I wish I could afford the tranny swap. I'd love to have a LSD 5sp.
Question #2, you going to the CT meet?

Not really make a profit.when it comes to cars like these any money you spend will never result in profit. Breaking even is great for example my 99 has been so reliable i can't complain. (knock on wood). i don't wanna make this thing into a hopless cursade. The most painful part to me is getting rid of the tranny its practically brand new. he had it rebuilt only a year and a half ago
when is it? I have differential equations class on saturdays? 1-5pm

you could always throw a new engine in there and get it running. after a little while you could decide you don't want it and then sell a working car and probably sell it for atleast $3500 so you'd be making a profit.
zack, unless you guys got tons of snow and you're busy, think you wou'd be able to meet up sometime later this weekend for the egr stuff? call me or im me...goodluck with the decision in the meantime. maybe even write out a list of pros and cons to see which route would be best for you to do with the car?
