D2s vs. Tein Basics

OKay, it's the battle to end all battles... more heated than Red Sox-Yankees, Duke-UNC, Texas-Oklahoma, Britney-Christina, or Maxima-Accord... it's the first ever Coilover Bowl!

Now, if you've read this far and don't think I'm the biggest tool out there, maybe you wouldn't mind giving me some much-needed input. Say you had the money to spend on Tein Basics or D2s and let's say they cost exactly the same price... which would you buy? And why?

I haven't heard any complaints as far as the build quality and performance of the Teins (yet) as I have many times with the D2's. I'll give them the benifit of the doubt as the manufacturer said it was a default in the batch from the group deal though. I haven't, however, heard from anyone that had these complaints that were told to replace them. Has anyone else?

teins! with the recent problems of D2 struts blowing out, I think they need to monitor their production and do more testing.

the only D2s that had the problems were the very first batch that were made. the problems have been fixed in the latest productions.

id give d2s a shot, because even though you said hypothetically they are the same price, they arent, d2's are cheaper.

Well, realistically, it's a difference of $84.

I just want to know which is better in terms of performance, durability, etc.

I have TEIN springs and i'm very impressed with them, i'm sure it would carry over to their coilovers

but the D2's are 32-way adjustable

I would choose teins over D2 until we get some feedback on D2 from the users.
for now, It seems like D2 coilovers have some problems to be fixed.

Tiens over d2 any day

Almost everyone is having problems with D2, and there is only a first batch that came into the us, the group deal batch wont be in for another 2 months so im glad i got out of that, and what is to say the second batch wont have the same problems??

Tein is a bigger name and comany, they know what they are doing, i never even heard of D2 till the Group Deal..

Tein over d2 strictly because of the fact that d2's haven't been tested enough yet, and also because of the fact that I really don't need a 36-way adjustable suspension. Ride height adjustment is good enough for me, because I'm not taking my wheels off every week and changing the settings.

And let me tell you, the Teins are awesome! You just need to buy an aftermarket camber adjustment system. That's it.

I didn't need camber adjustment system for mine.

anyways....Teins over D2's anyday here also.
just the fact that when i had adjustable struts before, i never really used to change the setting, so what makes me think that ill be using all 36 ways of the D2's? And another thing, if you dont know how to adjust all that crap, why buy it if it will just give you a headache or even hurt your performance if you adjust it wrong?
I give Teins a plus for all the RandD they have put in it. For certain amount of drop, the shocks seems to get either stiffer or looser. They obviously made the shock perfect to whichever drop you have, it will give its best performance and comfortability.
and plus, Teins has been around longer now, with time, comes experience, and im sure D2's will get better with time, but they are just not ready for it yet.

sure D2's first batch was messed up, but messed up big time for the struts to be blowing already. Sure Teins had a problem with the Strut holes being too small to fit the lug (Tein owners know what im talking about), but if you ask me, i'd rather drill a bigger hole than replacing or rebuilding a blown shock.
