Rear Heated O2 Sensor
Rear Heated O2 Sensor
Proud owner of a 1995 Maxima. No problems till now. Did the code thing and came up with 0707 "Rear Heated O2 Sensor".
I was reading that the rear sensor just confirms the readings coming from the two front sensors. At $100+, do I really need to replace the rear sensor at this time.
Aloha,
Jeff

i guess it takes away few miles per gallon; and you'll notice the car either running rich or lean and hence performance variation

If you are already getting good mileage with bad o2 sensors, you might gain another 1 or 2 mpg and even performance
correct, the rear o2 doesn't do anything except confirm the cat is working. I replaced mine with a simulator (paid $30 - ebay), though it still throws the code every 1000 miles or so. I need to go back in there and do a better job mounting it I think.
Why would you guys pay $30 for an O2 simulator when a real sensor costs about $20 more? I've been driving with a bad one for years now after the dealer replaced the first one under the used car warranty.
I figure if I was going to put in a bypass, it would be like my resistor subsitute for the knock sensor (less than a buck
), did this in '99 and the engine hasn't self distructed yet at 240,000 miles
