I would have come to this org and gathered more info before purchasing my low mileage 99 SE-L auto and found a 5th gen SE 5spd w/similar miles for the same price.

I love my Max though, can't complain, I could be driving my old chevy lumina.

"fast" is subjective - sure an audi would be sweet ( i want an s4 myself ) but in all honesty who really needs a car that does 12's and such if all it is is a daily driver - youll never be able to use all that power on the road (legally). (now im playing devils advocate bc i hope to get my max into 12's with a turbo) IMHO you can make a maxima "fast enough" for daily driving - which i believe is what most everyone on this site does. besides, a decently modded max can run most things on the road anyway. just my 2 cents.................

Nah, 4th gen rules. I could have afforded a 5th gen - even a 6th gen. Heck, a G35 (which I strongly considered) but I loved my '96 so much I stuck with 4th gen and bought a '99. And there is nothing wrong with an auto.

i don't think anyone is ever satisfied with what they have =) , but i have a question, how fast does a stock 4th gen run with a stock s/c kit with no special additives?

Not as fast as you probably want to hear. If you did nothing else to your car, put on a SC kit and left the stock SC pulley (3.6"), your 1/4 mile would be approx. high 14s for an auto and low 14s for a stick. You really do need to purchase a smaller SC pulley and do other mods if you want to be truely fast.

I love this car and have no regrets in buying it, but if i had all the money and time i spent on it back i would have got a J30 and swapped in a 300ZX TT motor in it

would have bought a 5 speed initially, would've never leased a subaru wrx..total loss from selling lease+fees+lease payments = 8k in 9 months + high insurance for it...would've saved 8 k + on the wrx and money on the maxima...since if I had the 5 spd initially wouldn't have gotten wrx. Anyway money wasted, time wasted..that money could've been used for a downpayment for realestate.

I'm not sure I regret anything yet. The VQ35 is not running yet, but all of Cattman's exhaust parts seem to be the best I could buy. I don't think I regret anything because my mods are all go, and no show.
