need to work on the car, but would the cold be a problem?

I'd like to clean the TB and wipe down some of the dust and crap inside my engine bay. question is, being 30 degrees out (almost 23 with the windchill), would cleaning the car have negative effects? I mean besides the engine bay cleaning being 10x's harder since it's cold, and frostbite on my fingers ; any reason why i shouldn't work on the car in the cold?

No mechanical reason against, except maybe for rubber hoses and components you may have to disconnect while cleaning the TB, which will be stiffer when cold. A hair dryer may come in handy for softening cold stiffed rubber tubes.

The only drawback is uncomfort. Suggest wearing a hat, couple of sweaters.

If you had to work under the car, then that would really s*ck. Working under the hood is not as bad.

yeah watch out for the connectors....had a hell of a time getting them off and if i tried to put them back on they wouldnt click....drive for about 20 min and then take them off and put them back it. it worked for me plus the engine bay is nice and toasty

Im really stupid...and maybe thats why im sick all the time...but I wore shorts and a undershirt when i was cleaning my stuff...while it was snowing.

uhh...3 days later I had the worst cold of my life....but owell, I got my throttle body cleaned and the engine bay touched up alittle. good luck stay warm, if nuttin else pull it in the garage for a little while. I couldnt do that cause mom refused to move her explorer and the rest of the garage is...paintball...drums...various sorts of motorcycles, etc.

sorry to hear you got so sick. well i live on campus, so I'll be goin at this with a bucket and a lot of rags. I'm a bit tired after my 8 hour nightshift, so i'll nap and hopefully wake up while the sun is up. I will take the advice of driving around for a bit, makes sense. Thanks

careful with the hood! my hood struts don't hold up as well in the cold, and the wind nearly knocks it down onto my head everytime these days. i usually put a prop in it now.
