Removal of a '99 KS and into a '98...
I recently noticed that my car feels sluggish..(forget telling your friends that your max feels slow, they'll laugh)...so i checked my ecu, and lo and behold, the dreaded 0304 KS code...i don't want to spend 100 on a new KS, so I'm doing the next best thing....replacing it with a friend's....my friend's mom has a '99 GXE, 45k miles, and i'm planning on switching the knock sensor into my car...a '98 GLE...i looked into the engine bay, and apparently the swish valve is in the way on the 99....how hard is it to take from a '99 engine? I'm pretty sure i can get it from my engine, but the 99 might be a challenge...
since it's his mom's car, she won't feel a difference, only if she's the kind of mom that loves to floor the gas pedal alot...I don't really feel bad about it, because he'll think it's routine maintenance...(the kid told me one of his ecu's fell out and that's what started vibration at high speed - so you can tell what kind of person i'm dealing with.) I might even charge him...
Anyone switched KS's in cars(especially 99s)...how long did it take? any specific advice?
Thanks.

well, i'm not paying any money, and i might even be charging him. besides, his mom's car has 45k on it, i doubt the knock sensor's gone bad in that short time....unless of course, she loves to floor it.

Get a new sensor and leave your buddys mom's car in proper working order.
Thats not very fair or nice of you to put a defective part into somebody elses car.
Think about that for a minute, or better yet ask his mom if it's OK for you to exchange the defective sensor on your car with the working one on hers.
Life dishes out all sorts of problems, tend to them to correct way and you'll go further throughout life.
