Yes, check your brake fluid. Do you have ABS? What condition are your pads in?

yeah I remember when my first brake light came on...I thought it was stuck cause the E-brake was all the way down....if your brake light came on and went off im not exactly sure...but im guessing that your brakes are worn...im pretty sure that when your brake light comes on that theres a sensor on the brakes on the car that lets you know the pads and/or rotors are bad....maybe you just need pads ...take one of your wheels off and check out your pad wear...most likely you can tell if its worn....check the stickys for brake info..good luck!

If you can, get your alternator checked too, just in case.

brake fluid is low. when your brake pad is low, you'll hear a dull screeching sound coming from your brakes. There is no sensor telling you your brake pad is low. refill your brake fluid and you'll be good to go

When your alternator's worn, the low voltage will cause your instrument panel to get screwy and random lights will start coming on. When I first bought my car, the brake and battery lights were on and the dealer replaced the alternator for me. Lights went away.
