worst milage
How many miles on it? How long have you owned it? Do you have the maintenance history? It could be a multitude of things: knock sensors, O2 sensors, plugs, coils, fuel filter, air pressure, air filter, etc. etc. I would suggest you get the car serviced as it appears you wouldn't know where to start.
has 80k i bought it like 6 months ago. i checked tire pressue. i had a code for o2 sensor and knock sensor but i erased it since then it hasnt came back on yet. i am thinking about throwing on all o2 s but its kind of expensive , so i am gonna do the tune up first i think

yeah dude ive been having a problem with gas mileage...I know its my KNOCK sensor....I need to replace it...................listen 97 forest green-it sounds like your being kinda stubborn-make sure you fix your knock and O2's and like the other guy wrote-I guarantee you your gas mileage will increase....also man JUST LIKE the other guys said-plugs, fluids, fuel filter, air filter, etc....this all contributes to MPG................oh yeah and !IMPORTANT!-O2 and knock may not always trigger the CEL
he's right, knock throws a ghost code. and if a front o2 fails, youre rear picks up for it. plugs, air filter, all that can play a part in it, but i would just replace the o2 sensors and the knock sensors now anyways because come around 100k, youre going to have do it anyways

knock sensor + o2 sensors. Thats your main culprets, and again you might not get an error code (or even a ghost error code), as the ecu only cries if it gets something completely out of whack (or no signal). Over time o2's aren't nearly as active or response as they should be. Also, try some more sensible driving ....
Even with my one front o2 being flakying (ordering a new one this week) and my knock sensor throwing out a ghost code, I still get 29.8mpg on the highway (750 miles this weekend alone!) and about 26/27 with some mixed highway/city driving.

I'm not saying you're irresponsible.
If there is something that is really wrong with your car, this is a hard problem to diagnose.
Start with a tuneup. Get a new air filter and a new fuel filter. Look underneath your car for fuel line leaks.
If you drive your car and it feels like unless you step on the gas the car begins to slow down or bind, your brakes may be binding or your transmission may be shot.
You may have a bad injector that is either leaking from a seal or stuck in the open position.
If you want I can recommend a shop who might be able to diagnose it for you. My buddy's shop is in Elmont NY.
I live in Roslyn too by the way but I'm in Georgia right now for grad school. I cant wait to move into the city again.
Definitely do a tune up first if you're not getting any codes, clean the throttle body too, it works wonders!! You never know, people probably pay for tune ups but because of shady mechanics they probably pocket the money and don't do much.
