too excited to go to sleep

I'm gonna join maxima today. 4000$ for a 97 SE Black Maxima 124k. Wondering what's the result of the mechanical check.

12.4k, or 124k? cuz for $4k, seems like it should be more towards 124k. is it manual or auto? i have a 97 SE 5 speed, and i love it to death, im sure youll enjoy it.

Sounds like a good deal. I paid $5000 for mine with 157000 and it doesn't even have leather. Leather looks so nice. Wanna trade?

Awesome. Make sure that you use the first investments into the car as things for maintanence. Check the codes on the ecu. All of you're bushings and maybe even strut mounts etc. will probably need changing, knock sensor, fuel filter, spark plugs, cleaned TB, iacv. I hope you had the car fully inspected by a mechanic before purchasing.

Sounds like that is what he is waiting on. Good luck with the car, seems like a reasonable deal. What shape is the body, paint, tires, interior, etc?

Im in the process of selling my maxima as well, how much do you think i should sell it for?? Its a 1997 5 speed with leather and all options. It is in perfect condition inside and out and was meticulously mantained with service records. The only downfall of the car is that is has 126,000 miles.....

I got it! Thanks to all of you! I can feel it's so warm here : ) But I found I may need to change the ks and o2 sensor, cause after the mechanical check I got code P0325 and P0136. Is this serious? Can I change it myself? What's the cost? Anyway, I have got my Maxima and thanks to all of you again.

One of those codes could be a false alarm. I'd erase them and see which one comes back. However with your mileage you may end up replacing all 3 o2s and the ks like I did.

Thanks. They reset the code and the check engine light is off! Then they check it again, only the knock sensor code left. Does this mean the o2 sensor is ok?

I've been running with a failing rear o2 for months so don't sweat it, if $$ are a concern get the KS first, it'll pay for itself over time in fuel savings! ebay might be a good place to track one down expect to pay $80-$95. Here's one but it's a little high:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...spagename=WDVW

Go with these guys for o2 sensors they seem to be the cheapest around and if you call them and say you're on the org they give I believe a 10% discount with free shipping:

http://www.buyoxygensensors.com/

Good and enjoy! You've probably got the most popular stock combo to start with! ( 1997, SE, 5spd) congrats, great price too!

It means it's functioning. Could be slow as dog **** like mine though.

You're gonna want to replace that knock sensor. Or, drive around in safe mode for a month, then change it. New car all over again.

I just picked up my Maxima Saturday and I haven't been sleeping for the last two weeks. Every single thing I think of is my Maxima. When I wake up, I look out the window to see my Maxima. Every little weird sounds or vibration scres the nuts off me.

I love my new Max. It's a 1997 Maxima SE too, except I paid 6800 for it. 94k.

Cong! I have exact the same feeling. When I shut down the engine, there is still a noise lasting for about thirty seconds. I guess it's normal.

Thats how I was when I first got my max, but I payed double what you guys did... infact, im still paying ($12,000 loan). But every payment is worth it to me, my max never gets old, I always catch myself starting at it before I go inside. Maybe thats the projectors.... I don't know.

Be prepared to go broke from modding, cause you'll always want something new for the max.

I make 100 dollars a week at CVS and every single cent of it goes to my Maxima. Every time I walk into Autozone, I end up coming out with a bunch of crap I don't actually need. I spend 25 dollars a week on insurance, 40 on gas...and the rest will go towards mods and rarely...food.

My car's making one weird noise, it happens sometimes for no reason and it sounds like a disc is spinning inside the CD player. Even when I take the disc out, the sound is still there, but I just crank the stereo up a little to drown it out.

First mod coming up: new speakers and H/U
