I really like my Maxima, but it's had some problems. Over the past several months I have gotten the right bank O2 sensor slow response error code and occasionally the right bank O2 sensor fault error code. I checked the sensor per the Haynes manual and it seemed ok, however the code continued to return. So, since my ECU has never lied to me before with the other problems that I have had, I went ahead and replaced the right bank O2 sensor (the one closest to the firewall) with an OEM sensor from Nissan. I once again cleared the codes and all was well for a couple of days, maybe a week, and I received the 0409 code again. I have reset the ECU and it went for a couple of weeks before the 0409 showed up again.

Any ideas? I am not convinced that the problem actually is the O2 sensor. I was careful in handling the O2 sensor and in not overtightening it during installation. I even ran the wire in the same path as the original. Any help would be appreciated.

As a side note - ever since I bought the car used, I have had a problem with the positive terminal on my battery corroding. It hasn't caused any problems that I am aware of, however I am pretty sure that something is going on. I have replaced the battery within the past 2 years. The problem existed with the old battery as well. I have cleaned the terminal many times. I don't think that it is related to the O2 sensor error - just additional info.
