Battery still dies, even after replacing alternator

As the title says, I just replaced my alternator on my 96 5spd, because my battery keeps dying after driving for a rather short period of time... Basically my car is being run off the battery, all the lights get dim and the car starts lurching until it finally comes to a hault, then it barely turn over because the battery is dead. After replacing the alternator I let it run for about 10 minutes after charging the battery, and I turned on all my accesories etc, and the same thing happened again. Anyone know what else it could possibly be??? I mean obviously the battery's not getting charged from the alternator.. Please give me some insight.

could your battery be toast ?
check fuses ?
Have your battery load tested?
check the alternator output for voltage and amperage?
Check the battery cables for good connections?
Try replacing the battery with one from another car? (snowmobile)

Like The Chariot Said...probaly Got A Bad Battery. Should Have At Least 500cca. If You Have A Volt Meter Start The Car...allow It To Idle And Put The Leads On The Battery Terminals. Should Probaly Have About 14.3-14.7 Volts If Your Alt. Is Working Correctly.

Could a bad battery actually cause this??? I mean the battery charges up fine, with a battery charger and the car will run for a little while just off of the battery...

I am having the same problems with my 97 Maxima, even after I changed to a new battery. I don't think it is the alternator because if my car starts I can drive it at least 1.5 hours at a time. My car just turns over very sluggishly or won't start at all. When I leave it sitting overnight it starts for some strange reason. But when I turn it off and try restarting the car it won't start. I think it might be the starter. Does anyone have any suggestions?

well when your car is running, it runs off of the alternator, ofcourse unless the alternator isn't working, or not plugged in properly. With a good alternator, your car should still be able to run, even if you unhook the battery (I tried this in my dads Caravan) So my guess it is alternator related.
