Just replaced my Starter! Saved $400 off Dealer!

@132k my starter was shot.

Got a new one at Autozone for $149 (after core exchange).

2 hrs of my own labor.

$24 in new tools - I needed a 17mm ratchet and a 12" long 3/8" ratchet wrench to get on the lower bolt and to get enough leverage to loosen the OEM bolt.

VERY EASY job.

damn i got ripped off...i spent like 250ish and they installed it while i was at school and i picked it up after my dad got home from work, but this was in like november it was cold out...and my car didn't start and i was at work and AAA won't drop it off at my housr 5miles +

I'd never have anyone charge labor on such a simple job as that.

yea I almost let the dealer do it waay back when I first got my car, saw this web site read the how to, and did it in no time and in the dark too (started in the evening) no prob at all.

congrats on the money saved.

yeah the wife is very happy about the money saved! me too. but when the wife is happy...you know who else's will be happy!

yikes.. id never get a crapzone starter or alternator... Rather buy it from the dealer..

lifetime warranty @ "crapzone"...hard to beat...

also, about 3 days ago i posted a question on where to get a starter...the only reply i got was to go to "crapzone"...

well my brother went through 3 starters from crapzone on his maxima.. my oem starter has 154k on it.. so im sticking with OEM..

yup same here went threw 2 starts from autozone then when 2 the dealer. paid only 300 for mine. its a new high torque more teeth lol. thats what they said. spin the motor alot faster tho.

Think I am on my second crapzone starter. Still don't like it very much but the dealer was going to charge twice as much. But when you have nearly 250k miles on your car it's a no brainer.

could of saved you $140 if you rebuilt your starter.

2 hrs to replace it. I think the fastest i have done it was 30 min. Well goodluck.
