How to remove dents????

Last night (while I was sleep) someone hit my car, there is a dent about 6-8 inches around and its right where my drivers side front door and back door meet. I tried using a suction cup type dent remover with no luck because of its odd position. I saw a remover where you have to drill a hole and pull the dent out, but I dont want to put any holes in my door. Anyone have any advise on what I should use??? Thanks

If the paint is wrecked, ie. scraped, split, just take it to one of those dent removal places not a body shop. I have had a few dents removed for peanuts and you can't even tell they were there after they are done. They usually hold a flourescent light up to the side of the car to work by and its amazing what that reveals in the way of minor dents and door dings that you can't see with the naked eye or unless you were at the right angle on a sunny day at high noon.

Last week I noticed a very slight dent in my new max, I was very upset as I thought the shop would laugh and say they cant do anything other than repaint the whole door. They didnt, they fixed it so good I cant even find it anymore, its called Paintless Dent Removal. They get behind the dent with special tools and 'massage' the dent out as he put it. If you really lvoe ur car, take it to the pro's who know!

Yeah, go to a pro. Don't attempt anything on your own, you'll hate yourself for it. And don't take it anywhere but a pro. Otherwise you'll hate the guy you paid 100 bucks to fix it and ended up with ****.

I tried to take a dent out of my front passenger side door. It was DIRECTLY behind a metal pipe/beam support. There was basically no room inbetween. I couldn't get it out.

I had the same problem on my drivers door and the paintless dent removal place I'm referring to spent about 40 minutes tooling it out and I can't even see it anymore. I also had a dent on my hood about the diameter of a golf ball or bigger and they got it out perfectly too. It was driving me out of my feeble little mind.

I highly recommend these places. They know what they are doing and the cost is reasonable. Quite often x per 1st dent and peanuts thereafter for each subsequent one taken out at the same time.

The one on my hood cost me Cdn$75 and subsequent one's on the same visit would have been Cdn$15. I found another place last June that was just starting up (a new franchise) and I paid the guy Cdn$50 cash for removing 2 door dings on my passenger door, including the aforementioned one on the door pillar thingy.

Done at a reputable Nissan Dealer- $90. They bring this guy in who does it, Im sure if you get a name of a guy who does it you can get it for half that. Its a Hella lot cheaper than repainting a panel!

WTF, reputable Nissan dealer - that's an oxymoron if I've ever heard one.

I just took it to an auto body shop and they quoted me $1150 to fix the dents. I think I will just let the dent chill there for a while. Im sure as hell not paying $1150 to fix a damn dent!! Were you guys refering to like pebble or dime sized dents and pings??? My dent was about 6-8 inches around...

As long as the paint isn't split/cracked, scraped or whatever, the paintless dent removal places can tool a 6-8 inch diameter dent out in a matter of minutes. They constantly deal with people who have an armful of groceries and pivot their hip or fat *** into their door and dent the hell out of it.

So the question is: What condition is the paint in in the area of the dent? It's as simple as that. Paint unscathed - go to dent removal place. Paint scraped - stand up and be a man. Have you reported it to your insurance company? It should be covered under comprehensive.

The paint isn't scratched, just about an inch or two scrape( i can fix w/ touch up paint). I only have liability insurance. And I beleive it costs so much becuase the dent is at the back of the front door and front of back door and the front door panel siding is bent (hard to explain). Does anyone know any "dent removal" places in NO. Virginia?? I checked the phone book and all i saw was "body shops".

Locate a dent removal place. Where I'm from they also have a franchise called Chips Away that specialize in bumper scuffs, rocks chips, keyed doors etc. They don't do dent removal but will blend the paint in in the area in question and clear coat the entire area for a fraction of the cost of a body shop. The paint codes are alll computerized these days and they can match it so you won't even know its been painted. I bet you can go this route for about 1/4 of what you have been quoted at a body shop.

PDR guys can oly remove dents if they are on single sided body panels, ie middle of hood, door, 1/4 etc. if you have a dent at the edge of the panel, where you have a second sheet of metal, its impossible to massage out, and thats all pdr guys do. think of it this way, if you put a dent in the middle of a soda can, how easy is it to get out? now put that same dent at the top or bottom of the can where there are contours to give the can strength. can you get it out easily? more importantly, can you get it out without damaging the paint on the soda can? probably not. dont forget he said he has a scrape, not a dent, and there is a world of differance between the two when it comes to dooing repairs

Then if you can't go the PDR route, get a quote from 3 reputable body shops. But first check your insurance to see if you can get it fixed on comprehensive. Certainly you have that. It's mandatory where I'm from but with varying deductibles.

no coverage, plus comprehensive only covers vandalism, fire/theft. a dent is considered collision
