Beat a 2005 Maxima
Beat a 2005 Maxima
My friend has a 2005 maxima for a rental car. The se autostick version of it. I took it for a drive and was like I can beat this. So we went on the highway and started at 40. We raced all the way to 100 and I was ahead the whole way. His front end was at my back end. He wants to race again but from a stop which is better for me anyway's. I thought when I went into 3rd he would start to pull but it was me who was pulling. I only have a cia intake and my car is a 5 speed. To make sure he wouldn't lie I had my other friend behind me for a witness. I am sure if his was a 6 speed it would have been a lot better because those do 0-60 is 6.4 and mine in 6.6.
I don't know how fast the 6th gen is, but it looks slow, and ugly. Plus its FWD, so even though it has what 75 more hp, how much can it use if any? Our cars already spin the tires if it's the least bit wet outside. And even if it's faster, it came in 12/12, dead last, in a test of sport sedans. Did I mention it's ugly?
4th and 5th gens are my favorites (4th gen is the
out of both of them of course). I dont know what nissan was thinking when they made the 6th gen. it looks big and ugly. And what happened with it being a sports sedan. If it came in dead last then nissan needs to re think the car.

I beat a 2005 the other day too, I thought it would have a little something with 255hp+ but I thought maybe cause it was stock. The "maxima" is basically what the Altima is now, 3.5L, v6 etc. They made the new maxima (6th gen) to compete with the Lexus, looks like its back to the drawing board because that new Lexus is "the hotness"!!

Maybe the 6th gen can compete with the new Pontiac G6
Not trying to hate... and im a 4th gen fan till the end but being realistic... a 6th gen will spank our cars brand new and even more now that 4th gens have a lot of miles. our cars automatic were hitting mid 15's brand new bonestock... and the 6th gens are hitting high 14's. 14.8's 14.9's according to motor trend and car and driver. ill admit the 6th gen should be faster for being the sports sedan that maximas are known for but its still faster than our cars.... just stating the obvious. It seems that know the sports sedan that the maxima used to be is now the altima. those 2005 3.5 altimas are wicked. they are faster than the 2002 3.5's.
I'll be the first to call
on this. I love my 4th gen and all, but unless he was driving with his teeth and mistaked the brake for the gas, there is no way you would have beaten him top end.
btw, this is in the wrong forum.

Well for all of you that said I was lying, your all dumb. I beat it till 100 mph. The automatic 6 gen does the 1/4 mile in over 15 and and not high 14's like some idiot said. The 6 speed 6 gen is high 14's. Even a 6 speed maxima does it in 6.4 0-60 when the 4 gen 1995 does it in 6.6. The 02 and 03 automatic is faster than the 04 and 05 automaticeven though it has less horsepower. Still not as fast as a 1995 5 speed. You would need the 6 speed for that. I raced him again and beat him to 80. The second race we had was a tie but my clutch also didn't catch very good going into 2nd. Some of the people are here don't know anything about maxima's and some do. For the people that don't maybe you should read about a little more instead of just assuming.
Well my friend has a SL and he can beat any 5th gen and 4th gen in our group, he has CAI and full exhaust. But he would get wooped by the 5.5 gen.
+ i know a guy that dynoed 202 whp in a 3.5 altima 5sp with full exhaust and intake so they are not that fast!

flame war in this thread, so now... get the **** out please thank youback on topic, like i said 4th gens rule! but no matter how great our cars are... stock vs stock, a 6th gen maxima should beat the 4th gen.
