I have a bad ball joint on my 99 maxima, and need to replace it. Some people say you cant replace just the ball joint that you have to buy the whole control arm, but why would they sell just the ball joint if it cant be replaced? anyone with experience please reply!

it can be replaced but you need a ball joint press ($150-200), so often it is not practical. Dealer will charge you $$$ to replace the control arm, so if you can do the work yourself, you can get new control arms for $60ish on ebay. I think dealership charges $150 for the arm + labor to install it.

 

thanks for the reply. I'll check the ebay lead and see whatall I can locate. Would a regular Tire/front end shop have a press like your talking about? If not I wonder who would?
