100 octane, good or bad

100 octane, good or bad

there's a gas station by my place where they offer 100 octane "racing gas" can my 97 max handle this? i got 144,000 miles intake, y-pipe, apexi exhaust. are there any benefits to this or is it over kill especially since im not turboed or supercharged.

If you had a TS or JWT ECU a little every now and then couldn't hurt if all there is besdes it was 90/1.

I'd save my money if I were you.

Smells sweet if you lift the IM after running it when compared to normal 91.

The highest I can get locally is 94 octane, but not at every station. One station only had 94 and 87 in their lineup and recently introduced a 90, the only one available. They have been selling it on an introductory basis at the same price as 90.

I can run Canadian 89 octane with no problems, but had a bad experience a month or so with Chevron 89 bought in Blaine, Washington. Will never use US 89 octane again as Canadian gas has different additives.

You're the same Jeff92SE from nwmaxima.com are you not? Believe it or not, the Pacific Border crossing, which is the truck crossing, isn't too bad. I can also buy gas at Point Roberts, in US territory, which is a peninsula only accessed through Canada or buy boat. Its on the way to the ferry to Victoria and no hassles there.

I can save about Cdn$14 on a tank of premium gas (when the car is low) if I fill ups across the line. And you guys cry about high gas prices and we export it to you.

Maybe we just send our crappy oil to you guys for refining, lol! You know ... the heavy oil used to pave roads.

I got so frustrated trying to sign up on the org when I first joined that I just kept typing in my name. I go by bobo on nwmaxima.com. I might have to change it as a woman I used to work with told me it means idiot in Italian. Some would say I resemble that remark. Any Italians out there that can confirm that. I've been called worse by the 6th Genners, lol!

No I haven't been to Seattle in a few years, but with a more favorable exchange rate I'm going to have to make the trek. I'll show those guys how to fire fish around, lol!

YAY, another octane rating thread!!!!

There are a myriad of variables that determine whether or not a change in the octane rating of your fuel will cause a change in power or fuel economy. The idea that an increase in octane will increase horsepower is for all practical purposes a farce, although it does hold more validity in hardcore racing environments (typically non-street). Stick to 93 octane fuel all around, pure and simple. Anything else is costing you more in one way or another.
