I have similar problem my clock keeps going off and on. I tried to take off vent by prying flat screwdriver around it but it did not work at top but bottom came loose. (In the process I broke one of the vent ... be careful). I have not been able to take it off completely. If you find out trick to it, please let me know.

Just have to use a screwdriver w/ a wash cloth and pry from the climate control console. I actually used my hands but could be too much if you pull too hard. I thought that I was going to break it the first time but then I just said if I do ohh well. But it won't. You'll hear a pop when you get them out of the two holes on each side. Then you can slide out the entire piece w/ vents. To get the clock out, just let the entire piece hang and get a phillips screwdriver to remove the two back screws. I disconnected the hazard & defroster plugs to make it a little easier.

I have the same problem..i just took it off to tape the plug in the back but it didnt seem to fix the problem! As for removing it...it took me about 20 min to figure out. Start at the lower right side..then lower left side...and finish it off by pryiing it along the top. Dont be afraid to use force...its a very strong piece. It feels like youre going to break it but itll be fine.
