i feel that my maxima is not reaching its full potential

hi guys havent posted in a while. but anyways ummm i feel that my maixma is lagging or somthing becouse it feels to me like im losing power after i reach 60 mph it just revs higher but my car is not pulling.

i got a

CAI
y-pipe
straight pipe
catback exhaust

i feel like there is somthing wrong with my car should i go get a tuneup? what should i ask em when i go get 1? i got 110,000 miles on it but its still solid and i was thinking about getting that power purge thing from ammco?

u guys got any ideas or tipps to make sure my max is runnig at peak preformance.

Welcome to the world of mid range performance. Get a MEVI or 2k Intake Manifold.

When was the last tune up? (Spark plugs, fuel filter, etc) Have you ever cleaned your throttle body? Ever run seafoam? Seafoam is my new best friend.

If you're not getting the 0304 code then its probably not your knock sensor. If you want to replace it anyway there was a group deal running from jerry rome nissan to get it for $85 + shipping so I would check that out.

Why does everyone conclude so quickly its the knock sensor? I'm surprised you havent told him to use seafoam. Read his post, he says he doesnt have much power after 60... after 80 our cars lose all power because of the intake manifold.

Because he also said he had 110,000 miles on it. Thats around the mileage that most people replace their knock sensor for the first time. Usually good answer for alot of people saying they lost power with that mileage.

Yet you forgot the most important part and the reason most people realize... gas mileage

What is Seafoam?

"Seafoam Auto-Marine Motor Tune-up" is a gas/oil additive that
helps to clean the carbs and engine and enhance performance. It
is also rumored to promote hair growth and virility. :-)

Make sure it's the really nasty, sludging "looks like someone with a bad kidney just took a ****" water, and pour that into your radiator. Start the car and rev the engine to redline for about 5 minutes. Problem solved.

I would suggest the regular tune up first.

Air filter
Fuel Filter
Sparks
engine treatment (sea foam etc.)
Check/adjust tire pressure
check fuild levels
radiator flush (getting close to summer anyway)

please check the Knock sensor with a multimeter first to make sure its bad, would suck to buy a new one put it on and feel no difference at all. The KS is either bad or good no half was so testing it would be far cheaper than buying a new one.

no they wont but if you ask then too I'm sure they will check it but might charge you like $20 or something, you can do it your self if you have a multimeter.

I dont have a CAI but ifg your filter is a K&N filter (if you put that with your CAI) then you can clean and resuse, if it isnt reusable then you'll need a new one. A dirty filter can really steal accell power?

Are you saying that the rpms go up but the car doesn't accelerate? If that is the case, then your clutch is slipping.

This is the first time I'm hearing about Seafoam. Where can I find it? Would it be at a Pep Boys or Auto Zone?

I was just reading whre a person said they use one can in the gas tank, half a can in the oil and they suck the other half into the intake through a vacume hose. They said it works wonders but the only bad thing is all the smoke that comes out while you're sucking it into your intake and that you shouldn't leave it in your oil for too long (no more than 500 miles). Basicly do it a day or 2 before your oil change. I want to try it but I don't know too much about cars. How do i suck it into the intake through a vacume hose?

I'm with GREENlight, I've never heard of seafoam before. It sounds like a wonderdrug for our cars. I'd like any more info anybody can provide. Thanks!

I too have been havin concerns with my maxima and its potential. My gas mileage has been decreasin steadily, and my performance is going down, and my trans seems to be slippin. Would a simple ammco flush help it? I went to Auto zone to get Mobil 1 and i was wonderin if it would be safe to run any kind of oil detergents or additives to help out a 5 year motor.
