Something isn't right, banging noise/stalling symptoms insight needed

Well I will get right to the point. When car is in park or neutral it idle's fine. But when put in any other gear and fully stopped the engine bangs like every 5 seconds or sometimes sooner. My rpm's flutter somewhat like 100-200 up and down and lights dim a bit and it sounds like the car wants to stall out but fights back. It dosn't happen in nuetral though and when I am giving it gas it dosnt occur either. just when im at a standstill in gear. My Rpm's dont dip below 700. I cleaned my maf, Im going to check the coils tomorrow. But I dont think a bad coil would make the engine choke so hard and make this noise. If I can I will try to get a sound clip.
Any ideas? Thanks. oh ya and no codes that are saying anything, just the evap solenoid code.

Check and adjust the TPS.
You'll need a shop manual, the Haynes book has a nice write up.

update:
went to my regular mechanic and he plugged the scanner into my ecu but it wouldnt read it, he tried 2 different scanners too, and he has read it before. I took the car back and checked the ecu codes myself and now im getting the 0102 MAF code. Argh could it just have failed, would it be causing all my symptoms? I tried adjusting the tps earlier and the screws that hold the tps plug harness on there wouldnt come off they are so worn and stripped. Anyone have any ideas? Is it worth getting a used maf from the junkyard? Or just not worry and spend the extra dough and get ripped off from the stealership for the new MAF? Would a bad maf cause all these symptoms from my previous post? Thanks
