Help - Rear shock/spring install help -Alot of Noise

I installed Tokico Blue shocks/struts and lowering springs. The rear shocks were making alot of noise so I looked at them thru the trunk. The piston from the shock is sticking way out and the bushing isnt even near the top of the shock. Not sure what is wrong but need some help ASAP.
The car is making a terrible noise, and Im not sure what to do other than not drive the car

Yep.
When I put the spring on the shock I didn't have to compress it at all. It fit right on. Which seemed unusual, but since I am new to this I didn't think anymore about it, until THE NOISE!

How is the spring supposed to sit? With the tight coils on top or on bottom?

tight coils on the top, there is no need to compress rear springs ( when using lowering springs)

it is really hard to diagnose your problem , something is not assembled right

are both sides making noises?

I checked it twice and both sides are doing the same thing. Everything was put back together the right way. All bushings and everything. Is there a rear mount that is needed?

You left out or misplaced part number 7.

After the spring is on the shock and the dust boot is in place reassembly goes like this.

#7 larger metal plate/washer goes on top of the boot and sits on the nub on the piston shaft. Then #6, the larger rubber bushing. Next is the uper mount, part numbers 4&5 together. Next comes #2, the smaller rubber bushing which sits on top of the mount, then #1 which is the small washer, then finally the nut to hold it all together.

If you misplace #7 or leave it out, then it's impossible to torque down the nut because the piston shaft keeps comming up through the center of the mount, which is exactly whats happening to you.

Nick/NJ- having the same problem as well. #6 in the diagram above I'm assuming refers to
Part Number: 56218-61L10
Description: BUSHING RUBBER
on http://www.kcmaximas.org/tech/suspension/index.html
In place of #7 above, I've got another rubber bushing (reusing from stock), similar in size but is evenly rounded, not ribbed like #6. The center hole has been standing up against the nub on the piston shaft. Had left this part off, then experienced the same problem MaxCanes had with the shock coming way out past where it should. Put it back on, and everything is fine.
BTW, I'm using the Tokico Illumina/spring kit.
BUT, if something else should be there I want to do it correct. Is there a part number you might have for this #7? Is it a fully metal part, or is it a rubber bushing with a metal washer? Thanks!

You know what, I got home and pulled the thing apart, and remebered that ALL I had in there was the ribbed #6. I swapped out the plain bushing that was in there for this one. And yes, it was down halfway over the strut shaft nub. So, what's #7?
