The drawback is that they are crap. They are not real coilovers, you would have to use regular struts with them. Any decent coilovers will cost at least, $600-$800

Thanks for the reply... but may i ask, why exactly are they crap cuz they arent "real"? wont they still lower the car? whats wrong with using regular struts?

alternatively: what if i just got these springs:

do i need new struts? wont the new springs lower the ride 1.5" ? why change the struts?

If all you care about is the car being lower then by all means get them....actually, save some money and just cut your stock springs down 4". But if you want a car that will ride and handle halfway decent and that is not going bouncing down the road then get something that is proven (it may actually cost some money though)

Not commenting on the second, link...just the first one.

don't get the first link, its a bunch of crap. Go with your second link, they are Tein springs are they are a top of the line spring company. Might want to couple them with some nice aftermarket shocks/struts. I got these springs matched with KYB GR-2's and the ride to me feels good and the drop is perfect. Here are the springs for $12 cheaper by the way http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...spagename=WDVW

ok, why do you suggest changing shocks/ struts also? if i get JUST the springs will that ruin the nice stock ride? i dont care about performance, all i want is the smooth stock ride but 1.5" lower...
thanks for your reply.

If that is what you want then get a set of Tein H-techs ( the ones you have linked are S-techs) and a set of Tokico Illuminas. If you don't want to spend the extra cash on the Illuminas then get at least some KYB GR-2's. But yes, to maintain a good ride on lowering springs you need some shocks/struts that are designed to handle a lowered car. Stock struts/springs just won't cut it in the long run

ok that's good info...
only problem is thats about a $500-$600 suspension swap.
I was hoping to do it for around $200...
so basically it cant be done right for that price...
looks like i wont be lowering my car then.

Thanks for your input everyone.

Yhea, if you want to do it right it will cost about $500 or so in parts. There are other alternatives. Look in the For Sale forum for some used springs and struts. Normally I would not recomend buying used struts but if you find a trustworthy seller who can verify the mileage and what type of spring was used with them it can be OK to do. I bought used struts for my first suspensin set-up and it turned out OK.

You Can get new GR-2's all the way around for about $220 shipped or so....keep an eye out on ebay or do a google search. A used set of quality springs can be had for $100 or so. So it is doable for less without giving up too much quality.
