Oil Pressure Question

Ok recently i installed an oil pressure gague in my car and i noticed that the guage at idle read about 14psi. At 3000 rpm the oil pressure is at 55. In my Nissan service manual it says that at 3000 rpm the oil pressure should be at 79 psi. Other than replacing my main crank bearings, piston rod bearings, and cam bearings, is there any other way to increase my oil press? maybe using a different thickness oil? i currently use 10w-30 any info would be greatly appreciated.

Does the car run good?
Does it burn any oil?
Are the valves quiet?
Does the motor sound good?
Is your performance and gas mileage good?

If your answers are YES, NO, YES, YES, YES to these questions, keep driving your car and enjoy your new gauge mod.

My answer is yes to all and no to burning oil. My car runs like a top. I just figured the low oil pressure would be bad for my motor and performance.

i know if u use a thicker oil it helps the pressure go up. depending on the mileage of ur car of course. what i dont know is if it causes performance loss. i use penzoil 10w 40 and i live in south texas on the border where the summer heat is extremely high.

a general rule of thumb is 10psi for every 1000rpm...at 3000rpm 30psi and above is sufficient

i have heard that before but my nissan manual states that at 3000rpm i should have 79psi and i have only 55psi
