I used the illumination power on the illumination switch to power my reverse indiglo gauges.

I tried using the dimmer switch output for the ground so that the gauges would dim with the vehicle switch but it caused a loud hum, so I just hooked up the reverse indiglo gauge ground to a direct ground. Only a slight hum then.

I zip tied the reverse indiglo gauge dimmer switch out of sight, I need to pop off the fuse lid and I can adjust the reverse indiglo gauges brightness or blue/green switch. Bear in mind that it still turns on/off with my normal lamps since I am drawing power from the illumination power at the dimmer switch (easiest place to access, I also took the ground from the same switch).

In my 95, the wires at the dimmer switch which I ended up soldering to:
power = blue/yellow stripe
ground = black

Guys - thanks for all the help. Just to clarify:

Dimmer switch - comes from the turn signal stalk right?

Illumination switch - is on the dash near the security light?

Which is a better setup? Thanks for all the help again.

if you want, you can make it much simpler... simply plug the wires right into the light that currently lights your needles / guages... put the wires in and screw the light back in... it's what I did a year ago and haven't had a problem since...

If you're going off of my setup, I only spliced to circuits at the dimmer switch (the one next to the security light).

At that dimmer switch in my 95, the wires I ended up soldering to:
power = blue/yellow stripe
ground = black
