Lowered 4th gen owners step inside....

My girl wants to lower her 97 max (in sig), and I was wondering if some of you people could help me out with pics of your cars lowered and what springs your running, and also any recomendations. Just so she can get an idea of what her max will look like lowered, and at what height she would be comfortable with. Thanks for your time.

Although coilovers are cool because you can raise and lower as much as you want, the specific drop in the picture just simply looks horrible IMO. With a drop this low, our Maximas look very unproportional. Just my opinion.

if you want pictures of particular springs on the car check out this site if you have not already. there are links of drops of different springs.

if you get springs youre going to need shocks as well. the oem shocks will not be able to handle the low height and will have shorter suspension travel, thus having the shocks blowout. im running maxspeeds on oem se shocks and since its not a very low drop and the se shocks are stiffer than gle/gxe shocks its running fine now. ill be upgrading very soon tho. its NOT recommended to run aftermarket springs on stock shocks. save up that extra money and get shocks as well. just remember, the lower you go the stiffer the ride. its never going to be the same as stock. the tein s-techs will give you a low ride but i hear it has a soft spring rate.

Before...

After KYB GR2's and Progress springs...

Ride is stiffer than SE setup, driving around normal not-so-smooth streets can get tiring after a while, but the cornering is greatly improved and the tail doesn't swing out on hard turns. Lowered about 1.25".

Not every state requires front plate, I love TN!!. Anywayz, for a girl, if she wants to go low, most notable spring manufactuers will be good(eibach,hr,etc), but for a low drop without coilovers she should do Tein S techs some decent struts, sounds like she doesn't want to spend alot of money though.

Hi ed...lol...sorry bro we have just been real busy lately. It seems like theres just not enough time to do anything. But we will deffinately have to hang soon. I wasnt sure if you had Coilovers or springs. It looks like its coming down to either H-techs, maxspeeds or eibachs.

thanks for everyones help

just so you know...H&Rs are supposed to be very similar to Maxspeeds. Also, this may be worth looking at...

Not ALL states require a front plate these days

On a thread related note... Anyone know about a combo of Tokico HP's and H&R springs, I've heard this combo rides pretty smooth but is solid in cornering, no more floaty feeling.

Edit: Plus the drop with H&Rs is pretty modest for those of us who don't like our cars slammed

sprints/agx's ride is harsh in cold weather but now that it warmed up it ride nice. I dont mind it. The rear is cut 1 coil. here are some pictures!

if i would do my suspension all over again i would go with a coilover setup. Tein Basics looks to be a nice setup. I mean springs were 170, struts were 440. 610 for both. Coilover can be bought for ~700 in the group deal. just something to think about.

The difference between Tein H-Techs and Tein S-techs is how much they lower. The S-techs lower the car even more then the H-techs. The H-techs lower the car just like the H&R Springs. Illuminas are great. I have them on my car and love them. If you have the money, go for the coilovers cause then you can get the edfc and adjust them while you are in the car.

Can you even put edfc on the basics? I'm not sure about that, I think it maybe the next set up, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

well it depends if you get them new or used. my setup cost me $550 shipped but i got the s-techs for free. i just bought the illuminas. check the for sale forum. people are always changing their setups. you might just get lucky and save some cash.
