Big Electrical Problem!!

I took may car to Nissan the other day to have the inspection done. It is a 1997 se. The guy called me a bit earlier and told me that there was a problem with the main wiring harness and that almost all of the wires were very corroded. He told me that to fix this it would probably be around 2500. He said it looked like someone else worked on the car at one point in time. He is talking to the guy who is working on the car to see if he can try and repair the damage rather than replace everything. I am just wondering if this has happened to anyone else on the forums. Thank you for your time, Greg

Does the car start and run still? If so, I would get a second opinion before forking down $2,500.

make them show you what wires are corroded, if it does not in fact impede the vehicles running normally, i would take it to a mom and pop shop for an estimate on repairs.

as you didnt say it was a problem but went in for inspection im guessing its a chance to run a scam on their part.
