I've seen newspaper ads which offer a replacement Maxima clutch for $300, parts and labor. Of course, for that price you are getting a Brand X clutch.

IMHO all name-brand fuel injector cleaners are equally good at cleaning injectors. Techron claims to also clean carbon deposits from the stems of intake valves. Certain engines -- older four cylinder Toyotas in particular -- have this problem. I've never heard of it in the VQ30DE engine used in our 4Gen Maximas. For this reason I would not pay the higher cost for Techron.
injectors
the reason i ask about the injectors is because the Nissan guys were trying to sell me on it when I got my oil changed. I was just wondering if it would make a difference on a 96 max se with 69k.
Thanks guys
Thanks guys

hahaha, yeah, i sort of laughed at him when he suggested it, and immediately lost any respect for him, cause I know all he was talking about was BG44k, for over $100!!! Man, i feel bad for anyone suckered into that. I was just curious as to if I should run some through the fuel system myself. You thoughts are appreciated as always.

I haven't noticed any difference after using Chevron Techron...

I've had good results with fuel injector cleaners, the kind you put in the gas tank. I recommend it where there is a clear indication of an injector problem. I don't recommend it for use as a preventive measure.

I believe Clutch Mart is a chain that has deals that are around $250-$350 for parts and labor.
I've never used them, but have been tempted to on several occasions. I'll be needing a clutch for my Max soon and haven't yet decided which clutch to buy. I purchased the ACT street setup for my Miata and have been very happy, so I might get that for my Max too... not sure if anybody has had any experience with it, but feedback would be good.
BTW, I only use Chevron gas in my car. It has Techron in it, which seems to work good. Back in the earlier days, I believe they had Techroline. Long ago, before I could even drive, my parents used to fill up with Beacon, Shell, whatever was cheap. However, every couple thousand miles, their fuel injectors would clog and such. After calling around, and getting the advice to use Chevron, they have never had a clogged fuel injector problem again. If you were to call VW, Volvo, Ford, and Nissan, all recommend Chevron and one other brand, usuall Union 76 or Shell. But the common denominator seems to be Chevron. I know most people think probably think who would spend the time to call the manufacturers, but I did...
My 1992 Ranger, which was fed Chevron since it was new and had oil changes every 3000 miles is still running fine with over 130,000+ miles. Only maintenance was spark plugs and clutch at 120,000 miles and brakes about every 60,000 miles... My 1997 Maxima also has 130,000+ miles and has had Chevron as well as Mobil 1 since about 5000 miles. The Ranger has never had a fuel filter changed or fuel injector cleaned. Runs perfect still and passes smog with squeaky clean emissions. Was it the gas? Don't know. Was it the oil changes? Don't know. But as long as I keep having this good luck, I'm willing to pay the extra .05 to .10 cents a gallon!

I hear that running injector cleaner through your car repeatedly(in a short period of time) may prove to be harmful. So what do you think, should I try another bottle of Techron or have the injectors removed and cleaned?

This is your first post in this thread so we don't know the background. What makes you think your injectors need to be cleaned? If your injectors were already clean then it comes as no surprise that a dose of Techron made no difference.

Maybe not injectors
Your problem may lie elsewhere. From the sounds of it, you are describing what has been explained to me as wearing of the cam sprockets. Apparently this causes that clicking sound, but does not affect the engines performance, and poses no immediate danger.

Well, Daniel as per your advice (on a previous thread) I bought a length of rubber hose and listened around my egine bay. I noticed that my injectors were clicking rather loudly. I purchased a bottle of Chevron fuel injector cleaner to try and remedy the problem, But the rather noisy clicking still exists. I dont remember it being this loud when I first got the car. Is is possible my injectors may need to be removed and cleaned? What do you suggest?

Do you have any symptoms which lead you to suspect a fuel injector problem? If not, then stop worrying. Enjoy the ride!

That clicking is a sign of good health, not a problem! The Sound Test is useful to diagnose a bad injector. If five injectors make a loud clicking and one makes a feeble sound or no sound at all, you have discovered a problem.
