My I30T 5speed Removal. The mission so far (PICS)
So i have been attemping to remove the 5speed VLSD tranny from my 1996 I30t parts car. I ran into a problem removing one if the nuts on the Y pipe due to it being rusted and rounded so dropping the cross member is not a very good option. I have been able to remove both axles. Using 36MM nut, 3ft pipe and 1/2 drive wrench. the pics speak for themselves. i will be removing the tranny sunday.
Special thanks to BIJANGXE and JeEvE7686 and everyone else who gave me tips.. the pics..

Good progress Zack. By looking at how clean the tranny is compared to the rest of the vehicle, I think that it is new and not a rebuild. Unless of course the shop that the guy took it to did one hell of exterior cleaning job on the thing.

Looks like its comin along good. TAKE the starter, and slave cylinder out!! Dont forget those.
There's 1 17mm bolt thats a pain in the azz to get too on the back side of the tranny, kinda almost BEHIND where the drivers axle slides in. It's hard to see so dont miss that one.
If you have enough jacks/stands - put one jack under the oil pan of the motor, take out the crossmember bolts (just the front and rear - not the whole motor mounts) - and the motor will drop about 3" or so....giving you enough play to wiggle the tranny off. It's possible to drop the tranny w/ out a "tranny" jack but just make sure whomever is under there ready to catch it...CAN catch it.
Let me know if you need further help dude
