Hey, Has Any1 Tried Taking Off The Gauges Needles To Install New Gauges As Explained On One Of The How's To In This Forum?

what kind of guages are you installing? the reverse guages just slide over the needles.

the reverse ones. i already tried placing them over the factory ones, but the needles dont move, so i dunno what speed im going or how much gas i got left.

you gotta go get some double sided scotch tape and stick them down. the same thing happened to me the first time i put mine on. if they are not held down right, the nedles will stick. i actually used a glue stick, but double sided scotch tape would be better.

I had to remove the needles and file down the center plastic part just a tad. Double sided tape helped alot but wasnt quite enuf. I also had to remove the two oem screws that hold down the original gauges.

also duz anyone have the gauges that come with an on/off button. I thought that was stupid so i didnt use it but it seems that it is random whether the gauges are in the on or off position initially. Like it will take me a couple tries turning my lights on to get the gauges to glow. Anyone know how to make them always turn on? Even with the on/off switch installed it seems that whether it is initially on or off is random.

hey, but did u use the technique stated here in the forums? did it work fine or it messed up ur calibration? how did u hold ur new gauges if u didnt have the screws?

The same thing happened to me. I just bought the reverse glow gauges and now my needles have stopped moving. Will the double sided tape help?

hey, i'm just wondering: do the gauges look good during night and day? i have white gauge faces and they look pretty good, just wondering what you think of yours?

yah i used the technique in the how tos. dont think it messed up my calibration cuz i was careful to mark exactly where i started feeling resistance and moved it back right to there. havent officially tested it even tho i probably should.

guages hold pretty well without the screws cuz of the corner holds and the fact that its thicker now with the new guages so when u put on the black bezel it pushes against the guages well enough to hold them there

if you do not get your guages completely flat, your neeldes will stick. the center is the main part, use tape and glue if you have to to get that to stay below the needle and you will be fine.

as for how they look; they look pretty good at night, but during the day i think they look like crap which is why i took mine off and just put a bunch of LEDs behind my stock SE guages. thoes look the best in the day time and the LEDs look great at night.

i had the needles sticking problem with my old gauge overlays. they were too bright anyways so i got rid of them and did an SE white gauge face swap and use blue 194 leds and i love them.

had mine for couple weeks and after school today, the needle wouldn't go past 60.
noticed a ridge of the plastic covering on the gauges that needed to be flattened.

took the gauges out under 15 minutes, tried to do led neeedles but it was too much work for me at the time so i backed out. installed everything and it goes past 60 but then kinda stops again. its pissing me so much. i'll just do it again tomm...

i sanded the black base of the needles a litttle when i had them off... its not necessary if you get the gauges glued down nice but i didnt want them to be up a little and have my needles stick

I didn't have any probs with mine, no sticking etc. I used some cheap as$ glue and they held. I would recommend not taking the needles off, it's not that hard with them on, just be careful.

I meant that im pretty sure i recalibrated the needle correctly when putting it back on but I havent not tested to make sure the readings are correct.

just to recap my thoughts, double sided tape worked pretty well but it would still stick at times. Removing the oem screws helps as well. If this still doesnt work (it still wasnt enough for me) remove the needles and file the center plastic piece a tad because that is what is touching the gauges and causing the needle to stick.

hey guys, sorry to mooch off this thread, but i plan on putting my friends white se gauges in my gle. i can just put the white gauge faces right over my black ones as long as the surface is completely flat, right? thanks

How does it look if you do that? I don't imagine it'd be very bright.

i believe you have to remove the needles since the oem gauges do not have the big opening in the center that will allow them to slip over the needles like the aftermarket ones... in that case you can just take the screws out take off your old black gauge faces and screw in the white ones as a direct replacement

why dont u just put the whole gauge cluster from ur friends'? n e ways, if he's giving u the gauges is for some reason, might as well give u the whole thing.

well, do so. dont go through the hazzle of the gauges and the needles, just put the cluster and move the number a lil bit.

The double sided tape only worked for me temporarily. The best thing to do is use some glue and just glue it down. Just make sure you align it. They look great once installed.
