So does anyone on the .org actually have Traction Control??

I know TC was only offered on '99s but I have yet to meet anyone who actually has it. Is there an .org member with it? Driving impressions? Just curious. Thanks.

I have it. Do I actually use it? Nope. I might use it time to time in heavy rain or in a big snow storm, but I tend to keep it off.

I also have it, but I only leave it on if the road is wet w/rain or snow. More or less it just limits the RPMs so you don't spin out of control. It does get annoying sometimes when the road is a little wet and you have a slightly heavy foot. damn slip light...lol

Nice! You guys are stoked. So do you need to turn it off each time you start the car or does it stay the way you had it last?

I've got traction control in my 1995 Cefiro... Snow | Auto | Power

Power is pretty good when you want to cruise round with overdrive off and power round a bit, holds it in gear longer, so you can sort of go on & off the accelerator without it changing up a gear on you.. nothing worse than trying to wind out the gear like in a manual and have it change up on you

And I have a , in sport you get better traction, wheels spin up nice. (thats a shockabsorber on the button in the pic )

Mines got it too. And yeah you need to turn it off every time you start the car. If you want to turn it off. It resets back to the on position. It's a nice feature to have in the snow, But A waste to me. My Max sleeps during the snow.

I much prefer brake-based TCS (sisters 00 TL) vs. fuel-cut based systems (on my 00 GLE, the same as a 99 TCS). Brake-based systems are much more useful, as it can individually brake the wheel that slips while the other one still effectively moves the car. Fuel-cut systems cut fuel, retard timing, and shift the transmission into a higher gear, even if the other wheel isn't slipping. Plus, it doesn't do it very smoothly vs. brake-based systems, try both in the rain and you'll see what I'm talking about. Fuel-cut systems are much more quieter though, as brake-based systems sound like an ABS pulsating below you.

Plus, on both cars, its highly recommended by the owners manual to turn off the TCS when you are stuck. Why? Because the tires must dig through to find traction and TCS prevents this.

I have it but haven't used it yet. Mine does not turn on when I start the car though, it's off unless I turn it on, which I haven't yet.

I've got traction control on my Maxima and i love it! In fact, the reason I chose a 99 was because that option was available. We get tons of snow here and I can tell you I relied on the TCS a lot this winter and it did save me from getting stuck a couple times. I've never had to turn it off in warmer weather yet, I guess I just don't accelerate that hard. But if you've seen the snow pics on my Car Domain page you'll understand why I need it!!

The 99 I just bought has Traction Control, but it was sunny and dry when I test drove it, so I don't really have any impressions yet.

I'd trade the traction control and ABS for an LSD

Yes, my 3rd gen VLSD is 10X more effective than the TCS ever was and they both wore the same tires.

TC sucks if you drag race. Just forget to turn it off once and you lose the race, forget to turn if off when using nitrous and you will likely lose the engine too.

The only thing that reminds me is when I do the burnout, you find out really quick that its on.

I've got LSD too. I guess that's why it handles so well in the snow.

Loe max knows what he's talking about!

The only thing the "fuel based" TC on my 99 is good for is stopping me from spinning my tires if I step on it hard from a stop on wet roadway.

Other then that, it's useless to me.

Shall we discuss ABS next? That always leads to an interesting war.

I agree with BlueC, I have it on my I30T, but rarely use it. I like having the option though

What the h. are you talking about 2 Max?!!!!! Please show me where I ever said or thought that his speedometer was not in km/hr!!!!! I am trying hard to see that in my posts and I don't see it anywhere. I don't see how you got that at all. In fact, I never even mentioned the speedometer!

I thought by your post you were indirectly talking about the max speed on his speedo. I guess I misunderstood your original comment: Damn killer VQ!!! You're the man. I am sitting in a puddle of drool over here!

My apologies in this case...but, what did you mean by the killer VQ then?

I have it, don't really notice it much unless its the winter months with slippery roads. I dont bother turning it off b/c The light would bother me. If you really don't drive too aggressively from a stoplight, you will never notice if its on or off. No big deal

I thought it was pretty apparent. Killer VQ was letting us know that not only did he have traction control but he had a 'snow', 'auto' and 'power' setting, not just an on/off. He showed us his 'auto' and 'power' setting for his suspension. And last but certainly not least, like pavel pointed out, killerVQ has the "PRND" readout on his dash!!! Way too cool.
Make sense?

I have traction control but i have no use for it anymore because my pilot ps2's never slip on the road. The secuitry led is right next to it i think.

The security light is to the left of the steering wheel. The TC button goes in that (otherwise annoyingly blank) panel just to the right of the dimmer switch - on the right side of the steering wheel. I hate dud panels so I bought an additional security switch to go in the dud panel location. That way I'll have a security light to the left and right of the wheel.
