engine check light
engine check light
engine check light came on whenever i got in my car after it being off for about 20 minutes(the car was off and the light wasnt on before). So the question is...what exactly is the engine check telling me? To check my engine...thats a pretty general area for a problem to be.
i dont know anything bout 02 sensors going out or something, so if anyone has any suggestions as to what to do about the engine check light, let me know please.
thanks.,

wow read the stickies please the light can be any number of codes and they are easy to check
The two have nothing in common. 0304 basically means your knock sensor pooped, therefore its running in 'safe mode' timing so you're basically not getting the advertised 190bhp. The 0304 code is also a ghost code, which means that it more than likely showed up previously and stayed there, but it doesn't trigger a Check Engine Light (CEL)
The 0707 code will trigger a CEL light. According to the FAQ, it looks as though this sensor keeps tabs on the Catalytic convertor. So the problem can either be a faulty sensor, or a clogged and faulty Catalytic convertor.

how do i know if the 0304 code is ghost or not? i guess im just going to tell my mechanic about it and have him check it out. wahts "bhp" you mean horsepower? i dont want to be robbed of hp!

BHP=Brake Horsepower, or crank horsepower.
Crankshaft Position Sensor consists of a permanent magnet, core and coil. It detects the fluctuation of engine revolutions and is located near the transaxle facing the teeths of the flywheel. Its looks like a simple installion, as you just sensor mounting bolts, take it out, and put in the new sensor and connect it to the harness.
Regarding anything with the 3-way catalyst, unless you know what you're doing, I wouldn't touch it.

According to the FAQ, it looks as though the rear O2 sensor keeps tabs on the Catalytic convertor. So the problem can either be a faulty sensor, or a clogged and faulty Catalytic convertor.
