Car is dead, no lights, no horn, no sound when starting

Ok, my car's electrical system is shutdown. nothing works at all. my dad tried jumping it with booster cables and nothing happened. no sound or nothing turning over. for the past few weeks, whenever i tried to start it cold, it would make a funny sound, like a squeel sound. when it would start up, i would have to press the gas in order for it to start up, if not, it would bog down and die. so does anyone know what my next step would be? thanks!

For one, the battery is completely dead. Just a boost wont start it. The battery will need to be charged. I would start with charging the battery or getting a new one. Second will be getting the alternator checked to see if it is putting out the voltage it should be putting out.

The result was the battery was completely dead. Went to VIP and bought a battery and it fired right up. Once the weather starts getting warmer up here, I will be cleaning out the TB and other misc things aswell. Time for a tuneup this spring. Thanks guys!
