If yours is older like a 95, then you might want to leave it on because the paint under there hasn't seen what the other paint has, meaning you'll have a strip of practically new paint and the res of the car will have a 10 yr old paintjob ..

Mine was noticeable 5 years ago, and the car was only 5yers old at the time, not sure about RI, but here in NM, the sun is brutal. Also why when body shops try and match paint, they have a special rule relative to a cars age required for the paint mixing to match stock parts if the whole car isn't getting painted.
