haha dunno how many of you guys remember but i bought the car with the engine bay painted silver . Well i finally got around to get it off thanks to the help of sterlingmaxima. I am just getting started but this is a good start with a couple hours of work. We had to use multiple toothbrushes, sand paper and of course the main ingredient air craft stripper to get rid of this ugly silver spray paint. Well anyway heres the before and after pictures. If you guys know anything else that will help me remove some more engine enamel from the car feel free to give advice because im just getting started i swear this car will be back to normal soon enough.

Oh my lord. That was hilarious. I was looking at that while talking to my friend on the phone and the phone totally fell down and broke.

But its worth it.

All kidding aside you can work wonders by covering the tubing with some of that colored stuff they sell in stores. What I suspect happened is that someone did a motor swap with a junkyard motor. They just sprayed the top so they could tell the next schmuck that it has a new motor.

Just a theory. Try the decorative hose cover things. A lot of posts have pictures of them

You can even see that black spray paint was used also. Is the battery painted black too? Looks like the air intake including the MAF was painted over, theres no pink sticker visible on the MAF.

Looks like you guys are doing a good job of keeping the bay clean while working - I don't see much dust/flakes/crap from all the scrubbin.
