Rear O2 Sensor ECU code...uhh help?

I just checked my ECU and i got 0707 for the Rear O2 Sensor. Is this a problem that should be fixed ASAP or can it wait a little while. Also, is this something I can fix on my own?

Yes, you can fix this on your own.

IIRC a standard Oxygen sensor is 20mm. Otherwise you can purchase a specialty Oxygen sensor removal socket for about $10. You just unscrew, disconnect it from the harness (if you get an OEM on), and reverse the process to install.

I would wait for a while..I had this code for almost 2 weeks and CEL went away by itself..It's been almost 2 months now, hasn't returned.

I just brought my Maxima into the shop and I've got the same problem. They said if I wait a little while to fix it I won't be harming the car at all. It just causes lower gas mileage and poorer performance.

I took my Maxima into our local Toyota dealership cause unfortunately the Nissan people here don't know what they're doing. We had bad experiences with our last Maxima. Toyota quoted me at $230 Canadian to fix my sensor. I'm not going to attempt to do it myself cause I really wouldn't know what I'm doing. I could probably get it done cheaper at an independent garage but my neighbor is a mechanic at Toyota and I trust he knows what he's doing.

I've had the 0707 code for over a year, cleared the ECU, and it's returned 3 times during that time, a local mechanic described it as "window dressing", doesn't seem to be affecting anything, I'm waiting to change it when I eventually have to change my CAT seeing as though on our year cars it's mounted right in it. I think because my CAT is near it's end my rear O2 is thowing the code ??? Best place to buy is:
http://www.buyoxygensensors.com/

they offer a 10% discount to org members and seeing as though it's not an ASAP change part might as well order from them.

This layout should help too:

just keep driving, hook up a simulator or something instead. ive been driving around liek that for about a year. my cat seems to be fine, i think the sensor is just dead. no point in wasting my money since its just there to check if my cat works, but my cat conv. has outlasted the sensor.

SparkPlugs.com is offering a 10% discount to .org members on all Bosch and NGK products (I believe this applies to O2 sensors as well) until the end of the year. The coupon code is "maximaorg."

I have made and posted a write-up for replacing the front two oxygen sensors (haven't needed to replace the rear one yet). You can find it here.
