two pipes straight through instead of y-pipe

the purpose of the y-pipe is to collect the 2 headers and then connect to the cat and to the rear of the car, i was wondering if anyone has tried to make 2 seperate pipes go straight through to the rear instead of collecting into one. anyone try this? what would happen performance wise?

the performance would be the same. mabye not as good becuase it isnt even cause they dont connect. then you would have to run 2 mufflers and if u wanted 2 cats. i higley doubt that it would give any performance at all.

Where are you gonna route the two pipes to the rear of the car? Where are you gonna mount the second muffler?

I'd be worried about the sound. Have you heard true-duals on a V6?

The 2nd pipe run would hang pretty low and probably get torn off more than anything else, the main exhaust run with the cat is in a "crevice". Not worth it; better to just run a bigger pipe all around.

I'd be concerned about the extra weight from the exhaust components. Given it'd be unique and kinda cool but most likey not worth the efort
