because it removes the governor and when i removed the governor myself the car acted funny so i figured this would be safer

If you have a 95/96, stick with a 95/96. An Auto ECU can be used in a manual, but from my understanding, not the other way around.

As for the 2003 ECU, those are completely different than our ECU. You would have to change ever sensor in the car, not to mention reprogram the ECU for the correct timing for the injectors, how much advance to give the car, etc. etc. etc. Buy a JWT or TS ECU if you want any power, as even though the 3.5L Maxima's are faster, I think more has to do with the extra displacement than with the ECU.

And Please don't make two threads about this, if you seriously think it can be done, just go out and do it, get it working, show us some install pictures and a writeup, show us a dyno slip, and i'll be next in line for the "mod" if you can even call it that.

Just put a switch inline that disconnects/reconnects the govenor. You'll get a CEL each time to throw the switch, but it won't affect your performance or anything. If this does make your car "act funny" chances are its not safe to drive as fast as you want to (take a long hard look at your tires and suspension)
