Dumb brake question

Can someone take a look at their rear inner brake pads and answer a question for me? I need to know if the "squealer" (the little metal tab that rubs on the rotor and squeaks when the pads wear down) should face up (towards the roof) or down (towards the ground) with the pad installed. I think my pads may be installed wrong. I checked my Haynes manual but it doesn't show the orientation. Thanks.

I dont think that is going to matter. You can only put the pads in one way. Braking surface to the rotor. As long as that is done correct the brake wear indicator should still work.

Thanks Matty. They probably would be marked if I didn't buy the cheapest pads that Autozone carries : )
