You need a IP Bus adapter. I have a pioneer deck and I got this :

PIONEER AUXILIARY INPUT ADAPTOR CD-RB10

it hooks into an auxiliary port in the back of the deck and goes to rca's. Then im going to get a Y cable. Rca's to 1/8th.

That only works for pioneer HUs. For the bose, look for something called AUX-NISS. Should be able to find on google. Downside: Cost is $100. I use a cheaper option, a wired FM modulator.

It sounds much better than wireless models (such as the belkin tunecast), but admittidley, not as good as CD. No, I don't have pics, but the installation is simple. I used the nissan diversity antenna adapter to connect the antenna. Then i ran the RCA plugs to the center armrest storage bin. Finally, I spliced into the 12V (ignition) and ground from the head unit. There is an on/off switch that needs to be mounted as well. Mine just hangs out from the ashtray. In the future, I plan to connect the power antenna to the same switch so that the antenna lowers when the modulator is on.

why would you hard wire it if in order to get new songs you have to hook it up to the comp. to get them???

Yea, I have found through previous experiences that the cassette works a lot better than the FM transmitter. The FM transmitter buzzes in and out of reception areas whereas the cassette doesn't have that problem. The only problem with the casstte is the wire hanging from it but I have found that putting your Ipod in the vacant space below the sock HU serves as a good holder.

you dont hard wire the iPod, you hardwire in an adapter (either for aftermarket HU with RCA inputs, or with a custom cdchanger adapter if your stereo can use one) or use a FM modulator, this leaves a 1/8 minijack available for you to plug into your iPod at your pleasure...

or, what i'm looking to do is hardwire in a iPod mini dock and fabricate it into the interior of my car somehow

and when we say FM modulator we don't mean a wireless iPod accessory.. it's a module that goes in line with the antenna before reaching your head unit, and is set to a specific frequency to broadcast on. you power it through the car and it has a on/off switch, when turned on it broadcasts to that preset FM frequency, while this might not be as good as a tape I would prefer this option as the radio (and this will obviously have better quality then regular radio) sounds pretty damn good on my stock stereo, IMHO.
