Take it to an auto detailer and get it steam cleaned. I do that every year in my annual car detailing (a birthday present to me) and you could eat off my engine.

go buy some foamy engine brite. we use it at the shop i work at. spray it on let it sit while you wash your car and then blast it off. btw i've washed many cars without covering everything up and blasted the **** out of them and they all start right up no probs in the long run. Foamy engine brite works wonders. everyone should use it

I've been professionally detailing cars for 15 years. I use the Engine Brite Citrus scent. Start the car and let it get warm and leave it running and spray entire can everywhere and I use an old wash mit to rub a few things down that are accessable. I do this with a regular garden hose. Wait a few minutes and rinse, but not a hard straight stream of water, but a little less. Rinse thoroughly and let engine idle 10-15 minutes. I've never had a problem with my Max not starting or whatever other nightmares people have experienced. Also, hold hoseabove your head and spray straight down using a side to side method, finish with some Armor-all on all black plastic and hoses. Good luck
