K i have failed searching for maximas in the area that i could take parts off of (no local junkyards with max's in them... )

and i can't find the thread with Knock Sensor prices.. i read one where price was 89$ with link an another for 96$ .. now the best im getting is 115$ from FAQ's http://shop.nissanpartstore.com/?mak...=69&image.y=19

and there's currently nothing on ebay.


... does anyone else know of any better prices? (er i need every damn penny) or of the threads i mentioned above... or any junkyards within 20 minutes of north NJ with maxima's in them...

I just did mine.
I got mine from the local parts store and it was a repackaged nissan oem unit. $109.
BTW i used a magnetic pickup tool to put the bolt back in place. Between that and the 12mm flex socket, I didn't have to reach in there. (read no bloody knuckles).

And the butt dyno sure says the power is back!

 

yea.. i read that in FAQ's .. i figured id actually just put on some vaseline to not cuttup my hand and all... installation shouldn't be a problem .. i just need the damn part!

for a decent price though... nissan wants 169.99$, and Autozone wants 174.99 and Pepboys doesn't have it.. and i haven't found any max's in any junkyard around here to get a damn KS off of ...

basically im beat.. if i cant find anything in next few days i guess i'll go for the 115$...

but i know damn well these links are here somewhere.. ive spent last 2 days reading hella KS threads and i saw some links.. one was specifically 89$ and one was 96$... i disregarded them thinking i'd find a max in a junkyard and get the KS for half that if not better..

 

You're not smart if you get a KS from a junk yard , I paid 180 for my first one, then 120, toughen up chief ...

 

how do you figure? i'd be buying it for no more than 30-40$ and testing it on the spot with ohmeter... in which case i can not even buy it if its faulty. and worst case scenerio the ECU would throw a code at me and i'd get another one...

and not to turn this into a bashing thread.. but don't be telling me to "toughen up" you have no idea where im at financially right now and how much money ive thrown down in the recent past... thanks

yea im hearing theres some good ones slide by ebay every now and then.. but ive been looking for 2 days now (not that long.. but i think the KS is kind of urgent because its also affecting my O2 sensor ... messing up my MPG)

all ebay has had so far is wiring harnesses.. which is not what i need.

i got some miles to go.. im going to figure out exactly how many MPG im getting to see how much im being robbed (should be another day or two till i eat up the gas) and then see if its really a major problem for me or not. Im guessing im getting about 15mpg right now..

but within the day or two it takes for me to eat up that gas, im hoping either something will popup on ebay or someone on the org will direct me to the right place

I'll be putting the 4 rims i find on that maxima into my pocket as is... i figure it'd be the least i could do to pay 30-40 for the KS ...

 

how on earth are u planning to boost those rims? the largest things iv ever taken were a supercharger and a rear bumper? and boy let me tell ya u gotta run fast cuz those mexican guys get pretty angry.... all my chi town buddies here that have been to Victory know what im talkin bout...lol

 

route 46... massive junkyard here. basically if you go to the gate and your holding a reciept.. you're clear to go. Sometimes the "Security" .. well i can't call him guard... well whatever.. sometimes he's passed out.

and the guys who you haggle with in the office usually have had a few coronas.. so it depends if its a good day or bad day. if its a bad day .. you buy a few parts for like 20$ total .. leave everything you pulled off and were qouted at to high of a price right outside there door... then pick it up in 5 minutes and walk to the gate casually while holding your receipt and you're good to go.. (no need to run .. ) (im not reccomending this.. but when you're building a project car and you're on a tight budget.. sometimes strings need to be pulled)

lol only problem is there were no maximas last time i went there.. well one but like a 92 and pretty much useless..

the junkyard is mostly filled with american cars (luminas..camaros .. etc..)

how long is a knock sensor good for ? im up to 158,000 miles on original knock sensor with no codes ? all my o2 sensors are out though, car is drinking gas like a 83 cadillac, wonder if i should just replace the ks when replacing all the o2's ?

 

i would thats what i did pretty much my knock went out and one o2 so i changed all the o2s and knock sensor just figured since it all went together kinda i would just kill it all at once.

nah he got his off ebay a while back.. as i stated there have been no KS's on ebay in the recent past.. and ive been refreshing like a madman for last few days..

It will not show up with the light on its own.

Most of the time the KS fails due to heat. My KS was cracked in half when I removed it
