how to paint mud guards body color?

I have a "rosewood" 95 GLE, i want to paint my mud guards behind the wheels the color of the body and i was just wondering how to go about this.
if this is in the stickies forgive me, i dont remember seeing it.
what im asking is, how to paint it, what paint to use, and what enamel to use. and should i sand it?
i dont know anything about the procedure obviously so help is appreciated
thanks.

This is new I havent seen max with painted mud guards. I'm sure it will get a lot of rock and such scratch it up as thats what mudflaps are there for but I'd like to see it still.

if you can find a duplicolor paint, clear coat, and I'm not sure how you'd prep such a surface. I'd want to say sand prime and then paint but I know such a surface with need a specific type of primer, hopefully someone will jump in with what kind you need.

I'm sure you paint it the same way you paint a urathane body kit. You gotta sand it,add a flex additive, color then clear

I own a repair shop and my partner owns a body shop ( in the same building ) So I see alot of repairs done there. So I'm gonna try to explain it as best as I could. First off I'm not sure if you can by the flex in a spray can. The body shop uses it in a spray gun. ok I would sand it with 300 dry, just to remove any imperfections. Then 600 wet ( with water ) to smooth it out. spray flex additive then color then 3 light even coats of clear. giving time between coats of clear. I sould be on the money but if not someone correct me. I'm a mechanic not a body guy. As far as getting the paint in your color. Humm in a body shop they mix it, but I'm sure you can find some dupli color match in a pep boys or autozone.
