Please anyone help me on this!!!

OK I just bought a 96 SE 5 speed. And I am wondering if in 96 did any of the maxes come with a LSD and if they did is there a way to find out other than doing a burn out either by the vin or something else. And if not then please let me know. Thanks ahead of time for all your help.

Bruce

My 95SE has LSD but it was built for the Canadian market. There have been numerous threads about this and where to look for the transmission/axle info on the firewall, but I'm not sure if anyone has gotten that right yet.

The easiest way to find out is to jack the front end off the ground with both wheels clear. Rotate one front wheel forward and if the other one turns in sympathy, you have LSD - if not, you don't. I don't know if any 96 Maximas built for the US market came with LSD. Based on what I've read I suspect the short answer is no you don't have LSD.

AFAIK, LSD was only available on the I30 5speeds, and 5th gen maximas.

And Canadian ... you'll leave twins regardless, its com,ing out of a turn that a non-lsd will annihilate the inner tire ...
