What do you think of in-car neons

I am in HS, and I was wondering if I should get neons (well really CCFLs) inside my car...

useless and ricey

I put some in right after I got the car and haven't touched them since. They just sit unused under the dash

EDIT: sorry that sounded mean... IMO they don't look very good in a lot of applications and I feel retarded driving around with them on. I only keep them in because I installed a switch for them in the dash. I'll probably take them out soon and use the switch for the drop resistor or radiator fans or something. But if you like them get em, I won't stop you

They are useless...but I did put them into my car as well. Got some blue ultrabrights, and they look damn good. Its only good if you wanna do a minor showoff to girls, they are interested in that crap because its "pretty". Cost me a pretty penny too, but hey if you interested, then do it. It cant hurt anything.

for using them to show off for the ladies. sucks that girls couldnt give two cares about a ypipe but put neons under the dash and they're spellbound.

but im soon to get cold cathodes for under my dash for a few reasons. mainly though because they match my blue leds which match my blue screened cd player (the only reason i got the leds)

I'm not exactly fond of neons. Better to use the money for something thats a lil more useful if you ask me. But hey, if you like them go for it.

Just remember, if you crash, that more glass thats flying around the inside of the car.

i have cold cathodes and i have no regrets, i was running out of cheap things to do and decided to give it a shot. if you have absolutely nothing else to do at this time, then do it. if there are more productive mods you can do like performance, or widow tint, or something else then do something else. pics on my cardomain, btw u cant have the interior without the exterior so i did underbody as well, and i have gen 2 altezzas...im on my way to ricer utopia.

it depends on how they are done. in most applications they do look like a ricers dream, but i have seen some that look good. if you do, put them on the inside and keep them off until you lose something at night and need a light.

Get neons for your car, then join the rest of the ricers in the org. Or save your lunch money and by the time you graduate, you can get yourself some nice performance mods as graduation present to yourself. If that somehow doesn't make sense to you, then go with the neons and don't forget to join the ricer maxes in here.

i think neons can look awsome only if theyre not hanging from your rear window or front windshield going with youre subs, or if youve got wires coming out of your cig lighter. its only rice if you over do it and make them tacky

Don't do it. The whole neon light looks childish and should be left for civics.

If you like how they look then do it. Personally, I don't mind them and I don't understand the whole "ricer" concept. They may not have a purpose but they're pretty cheap and if you like the result then they are worth the money.

It's all about what you like man. I don't consider myself or other people "ricey" because we have lights underneath our dashboards... that's ridiculous.

In the end just do what makes you happy. It is your car. I myself would not do it, but if you like them that much then go for it.

Most people do not like the way I have my tint. Way darker in the back than up front. I was told to just go a lighter shade than the back, but all around that way it will match. I went with what I thought was best for me in the end (and the kids in the back), and I'm happy with my decision.

Dim interior neons are not too bad. The ones that shine like a f*cking spotlight are the retarded/ricey ones. And like others have said, chicks LOVE neons.

I think it's cool if they are well done and hidden extremely well where you can't see the bulbs. My friend got white neons installed inside and outside of his Bimmer 540. On the outside, they are extremely well hidden on the sides, front and back, on the inside, he got sound activated ones (the ones that glow when BOOM BOOM ), 1 6" under the drivers seat, and 1 6" under the passanger seat, and 12" ones behind the dash on the bottom so the pretty ladies can see their pretty shoes

That's a good way to cheapen a perfectly classy and distinctive car like the BMW 540.

I remember back when kids started using black lights to illuminate their rooms. Somehow, this concept was carried over to automobiles, only with neon.

Having them for shows is one thing. But having neons while you have nothing else custom to show with it is simply distasteful. A few nights ago, while I was driving home from the gym, I saw a bone stock dirty K-car with interior neons. I nearly barfed at the sight of it. Now that's ghetto-ricerifically delicious.

the 540's aren't very class... well maybe on the inside, but it's a sports sadan, kinda like our hooked up maximas. He got mad aftermarket crap. Oh yea, he rearly has the neons on the outside on, but the ones on teh inside are always on when he picks up some chicks or something, cuz it's true, chicks do dig neon lights....

Are you serious? A 540i is pretty much a Maxima with a nicer interior? That might be the worst comparison ever.

no... im saying that it's a sports sadan, kinda like our maximas are.. sports sadans (the hooked up ones atleast)

I'm talking about sports sadans in general.

Dont get me wrong, I love the 5 series and theres no way in hell can it be compared to a maxima.
