WHen i bought mine from sportcompactonly.com Steve told me to get that MT90 and it would help shift. Im shifting pretty smoothly.. Did you put everything on the right way?? i hope you didnt have any spare parts.. lol.. I did mine and everything seems fine. Someone mentioned to me that if you tighten the bolt too much that it would be hard to shift.. Overtightening might of done it. Thats all i can think of.. Check if MT90 helps!!!

Let me drive it jon, I will see whats up. i think your problem is your pulling it towards your body rather than straight down. let me know if you want me to come by. for 3rd just push straight up from 2nd and it goes right into 3rd. 3rd to 4th pull STRAIGHT down. It takes time to get used to.

Practice practice practice...you just got it installed, thus throwing off what you are 'used to' doing as far as shifting.

I have -0- problems finding 3rd or 4th. About 20k miles after I installed my B&M shifter I changed out to MT90 gear oil and it was a little less notchy.

I've driven a Max with the stock shifter and it is a world of difference.

...although if you still experience this problem maybe you have tranny problems.

POWER to my fellow pebblebeigers!!!!!! lol.. Im thinking about doing the mt90 thing but i feel my shifter fine.. i had an RX7 before this and nothing is worse than shifting that thing, thats why i guess i feel it ok.. Is the difference BIG w/ mt90??

How long have you had it? For the first 2 weeks or so it is pretty stiff. It has to break in.

MT90 will help. There is also the "Dave B" shifter mod that helps shifter feeling.

the mt-90 will make a noticable difference, although nothing drastic. mine took almost a month until it loosened up. i had to adjust the bolt/nut where the shifter meets the linkage a couple of times, the first time it was too tight, than too loose, finally got it right and threw some lock-tite on there to keep it in place. i also greased up that plastic bushings with high temp grease.

I had my gear oil changed with regular ol' GL-4 at a oil change place a few months before I bought my B&M.

It was notchy and stiff for ~ 2 weeks of driving, now its the smoothest shifter I've ever used. No special gear oil here, just plain old broken in nicely (my tranny only had 60k on it at the time of install too, but I don't think that would make any difference.)

It will loosen up, give it a chance.
